Just right for my needs July 3, 2009 BeoMac (Phoenix, AZ USA) This player was exactly what I was looking for: needed a "monitor" for our elliptical trainer for my wife and I to watch TV shows while working out. The ability to use a video iPod or iTouch makes this work perfectly for us. Her shows. My shows. Plenty of content to go around. Player fits great on the elliptical. Much more prudent than balancing one of our $2K MacBook Pros on the elliptical. Also works (somewhat) with iPhone-- although the iPhone is too tall to slide back into the unit, so the tray sticks out of the side as you see in the images. Overall, couldn't be happier.
Region free June 22, 2009 Mike B (San Francisco, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Life's too short for the region-coding BS. This unit is easy to make region-free. Kudos, and 5 stars, to Philips.
just what it was advertised to be June 18, 2009 L. Bierre (houston, tx) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i was looking for a portable dvd player with multiple uses; this one does almost everything i would have wanted. It came with cables for connecting to other display devices, and charging in house and car. I was surprised that it had so many possibilities. really cool toy.
Need help with ipod movie formats for this player June 15, 2009 Paul Boedges (Springfield, VA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I also bought this product for the ipod dock and its screen size. it plays dvds just fine, great sound, video, etc. However, i can't seem to find the right video movie format for my ipod (or for that matter, my SD card) to either be recognized by the device or not look 'grainey' on the screen. any ideas? (paul.boedges@yahoo.com)... i don't mind sharing my email here. tks, paul
Simply awesome with one draw back - the stand June 5, 2009 J. Kar (Detroit, MI) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I went back and forth on this because of the reviews about the picture quality and build. I am glad I bought it. My son is 3 and burned through the last "video player" option, a V55 that had the iPod dock. All of my video is iPod formatted so a "video dock" was a necessity. I could not be happier with this Philips except for one draw back. It has a "flip out" stand on the back, this is useless to me as the primary viewing is done in the car. I was hoping for some sort of attachment point, but there was not one. Short story, went to Lowe's, bought some "velcro" fastners with sticky back and a piece of bungee. I then made a loop to hang around the headrest and the player attaches with the "velcro" and is perfect. Since it is "velcro", I can detach and take with. As for viewing, I can see it at about 145deg, the speakers are just right (he can hear and I can still have the radio on). I will look for another one of these next year when they release a new model and buy one for back-up instead of spending 6 months trying to search out a replacement.
